You don't have to spend a cent on fancy equipment to get a very good core workout. Many core exercises rely only in your body weight. But with some easy equipment, you'll be able to diversify and ramp up your workouts.
The following items can enable you to put a recent twist in your core exercises. Most of those can already be found around your private home or can be found at a low price from a sporting goods store.
- The chair Choose a sturdy chair that won't tip over easily. A straightforward picket dining chair without arms or heavy padding works well.
- The mat Use a non-slip, well-padded mat. Yoga mats are available. A thick rug or towels will work in a pinch.
- Yoga strap. It's a non-elastic cotton or nylon strap six feet or longer that helps you position your body accurately during a selected stretch, or by making easy stretch changes. Choose a strap with a D-ring or buckle fastener at one end. This means that you can put a loop around your foot or leg after which grab the opposite end of the strap.
- Medicine balls. Similar to the scale of a football or basketball, medicine balls are available a wide range of weights. Some have a handle on top. A 4-pound to 6-pound medicine ball is a very good start for most individuals.
